Day by day
Arrival — Negombo
Arrive at Katunayake and settle into Negombo, with a beach walk to watch the sunset on your first evening.
Negombo → Dambulla → Sigiriya → Polonnaruwa
Visit the Dambulla cave temple, climb Sigiriya rock fortress, and explore the ruins of Polonnaruwa.
Sigiriya → Kandy → Peradeniya Botanical Garden
Continue to Kandy, with a stop at the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.
Kandy → Nuwara Eliya → Ella
Drive through tea country to Nuwara Eliya, then on to Ella, known for its hiking trails and views.
Ella → Yala National Park
Head south for a jeep safari at Yala, in search of leopards and elephants.
Yala → Southern Coast
Continue to the southern coast for two nights, with time to swim or snorkel at Hikkaduwa.
Southern Coast → Colombo
Visit the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery on the way to Colombo for the final two nights.
Colombo → Departure
A final city tour — the Gangaramaya Temple, Lotus Tower and Dehiwala Zoo — before transfer to the airport.

Why two nights in Colombo at the end?
It gives a relaxed close to the trip — restaurants, shopping and a proper last night rather than a rushed transfer straight to the airport.
