Itinerary

You will be met at the airport and then taken to your hotel in Negombo. In Negombo you will find buildings from the Dutch and Portuguese colonial era, such as a Dutch fort and a Catholic church.Negombo is particularly famous for its miles of sandy beaches – look forward to your first dip in the water of the Indian Ocean after your long journey!

After breakfast at your hotel, embark on a journey to Sri Lanka's cultural triangle, beginning with the iconic Lion Rock of Sigiriya. Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site created by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). It was the central fortress of a vast 70-hectare walled city, encircled by a moat, rampart, and expansive gardens, including the renowned Water Gardens.Marvel at the world-famous frescoes of the “Cloud Maidens” of Sigiriya.

Your day begins with a visit to the rock temples of Dambulla, where you'll encounter numerous Buddha statues, some larger than life, and vibrant ceiling paintings. Next, you'll arrive in Kandy, the last capital of Sri Lanka's kings and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name "Kandy" evokes images of splendor and glory, with many of its legends, traditions, and folklore still cherished.Drive around Kandy Lake, constructed in 1798 by the last Sinhalese king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe. Explore Kandy town, A highlight of your visit will be the sacred Temple of the Tooth, which houses one of Buddha's revered canine teeth.

Yala, a nature reserve since 1889, offers a chance to see Sri Lanka's Big 5, including elusive leopards, wild elephants, buffalo, wild boar, and sloth bears. The park's waterholes, formed by the Kumbukkan Oya and Menik Ganga rivers, attract crocodiles, herons, and migratory birds in winter.
