Adam’s Peak is a 2,243-metre-tall conical mountain in Sri Lanka that is sacred to Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims. The mountain is known for the “Sri Pada” (Sinhala for “sacred footprint”), a 1.8-meter-long rock formation near the summit that is believed to be the footprint of the Buddha, Adam, or Shiva. Visitors can hike to the summit of Adam’s Peak during the pilgrimage season, which runs from December to April.
