About Kumana National Park
Kumana sits on Sri Lanka's east coast, adjoining Yala's Block 5, and is built around the Kumana Villu — a natural wetland fed by a network of mangrove-lined channels. It's one of the island's major nesting sites for water birds, and a quieter alternative when Yala's main blocks are busy.
Elephants, crocodiles and the occasional leopard pass through too, but birdlife is what draws most visitors, particularly during the migratory season.
